Level 1
Description:
This is an introduction to Whitewater kayaking. It takes place exclusively on flat water, in a controlled environment where you are taught the basics: Knowing your equipment, how to get in and out, basic paddling strokes and boat handling.
Classes begin for kids 4 yrs old and up. The focus is on families wanting to get into the sport together, or small groups of friends looking to get into kayaking together.
Children under the age of 12 must have a parent or gardian accompanying them, but you do not have to participate.

Level 2
Description:

For adults only one Level 1 session is required. Kids under 10yrs old this is taken on a case by case scenerio, depending on each kids development.

Description:
Take your Whitewater kayaking to the next step. It takes place in easy moving water and simple rapids. You'll learn a basic understanding of how to "read" rapids, and navigate through simple ones. Depending on the students, the beginning of playing in the rapids can be touched on.
You will learn the fundamentals of the "eskimo roll" (the technique of righting a capsized kayak), learn more advanced skills like crossing side currents, paddling through waves, basic surfing techniques and other river running skills.

The goal of this class is to begin to make you self sufficient on the water. You will learn the fundamentals of playboating, river running and more. Correct skills development is the foundation for any advanced progression, and this is the focus of the level 4 classes.
For groups of adults only one Level 3 session is required, or a demonstration of the necessary skills. Kids under 12yrs old this is taken on a case by case scenario, depending on each kids development. Some 8-9yr olds are perfectly capable of learning these skills, others still need a year or two of physical and mental development. We will advise you based on their abilities coming out of the Level 3 class.
